ABOUT US

Shaping the Future of Real Estate in Vermont Since 1945

For more than 80 years, the Vermont Association of REALTORS® (VAR) has been the voice of real estate in Vermont. Chartered in 1945, VAR now serves more than 2,000 REALTOR® and affiliate members across the state, providing the advocacy, education, resources, and leadership needed to help members succeed in an ever-changing real estate landscape.

As the statewide professional association for REALTORS®, VAR works every day to protect homeownership, strengthen communities, and ensure that Vermont’s real estate professionals have the tools and support they need to serve consumers at the highest level.

Our Mission

VAR empowers REALTORS® to thrive professionally while advocating for policies that protect property rights, expand housing opportunities, and strengthen Vermont communities.

We believe homeownership remains one of the most powerful pathways to financial stability, community engagement, and generational wealth. Through education, advocacy, leadership development, and member services, we help our members make that dream a reality for Vermonters.

Our Vision for the Future

The Vermont Association of REALTORS® is guided by its 2026-2030 Strategic Plan, a roadmap designed to ensure that both the association and its members remain strong, relevant, and prepared for the future. The plan focuses on:

  • Delivering exceptional member value
  • Strengthening advocacy and political influence
  • Expanding leadership development opportunities
  • Enhancing communication and member engagement
  • Embracing innovation and emerging technologies
  • Building stronger partnerships across the real estate industry
  • Supporting housing solutions that benefit all Vermonters

As the housing market, technology, and consumer expectations continue to evolve, VAR is committed to helping members adapt, grow, and lead. Our goal is not simply to respond to change, but to help shape it.

Vermont Realtors®. Advocating. Educating. Leading. Since 1945.

Advocacy that Makes a Difference

From Montpelier to Washington, D.C., VAR advocates for policies that protect private property rights, support housing opportunities, and strengthen Vermont's real estate market. Through grassroots engagement and strong relationships with policymakers, VAR ensures Realtors® have a voice in decisions that impact housing, homeownership, and communities across the state.

Professionalism and Education

REALTORS® are held to a higher standard. VAR provides members with continuing education, professional standards programs, leadership training, and business tools that help them serve consumers ethically and professionally. From new licensees to experienced brokers, VAR supports lifelong learning and professional growth through classes, certifications, conferences, and networking opportunities.

Part of Something Bigger

VAR is around to be part of the National Association of Realtors® (NAR). NAR represents approximately 1.4 million members nationwide, making it the largest trade association in the U.S. Through this partnership, Vermont REALTORS® gain access to national advocacy, research, technology resources, and professional development opportunities that strengthen their businesses and the industry as a whole.

Building Stronger Communities

At its core, VAR is about people. Our members are community leaders, volunteers, business owners, and neighbors who care deeply about the places they serve. Whether advocating for housing solutions, supporting local charities or helping families achieve the dream of homeownership, Vermont REALTORS® are committed to building stronger communities throughout the Green Mountain State.
