REALTORS® are held to a higher standard. Through a fair and impartial enforcement process, VAR’s Professional Standards Program promotes honesty, integrity, and professionalism in all aspects of real estate practice.
Our goal is to educate, guide, and, when necessary, enforce the Code of Ethics to protect consumers and support the success of our members.
THE REALTOR® CODE OF ETHICS
A Higher Standard
The Code of Ethics is the foundation of a REALTOR’S® professionalism and commitment to doing what’s right for clients, customers, the public, and their peers.
Under all is the land. Upon its wise utilization and widely allocated ownership depend the survival and growth of free institutions and of our civilization.
ARBITRATION REQUEST
If you have a dispute with a REALTOR®, first consider discussin gthe issue directly with the REALTOR® or their principal broker. If the matter remains unresolved, VAR offers an arbitration process to help resolve certain disputes
ETHICS COMPLAINT
REALTORS® are required to abide by the REALTOR® Code of Ethics. If you believe a REALTOR® has violated the Code, you may file a formal ethics complaint with VAR for review through the Professional Standards process.
OMBUDS SERVICES
Not every concern involves a potentail Code of Ethics violation. VAR’s Ombudsman Program offers an informal, problem-solving approach to help address questions, communication issues, and transactional concerns..
