Shared Equity and the Community Land Trust Model

This class is intended to inform real estate licensees about Champlain Housing Trust’s (CHT) Shared Equity program and how it operates within a residential real estate transaction. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the program’s purpose and scale, how it maintains permanent affordability, and how shared equity purchases and resales differ from traditional fee-simple sales. The course explains the key program requirements, buyer eligibility standards, pricing and subsidy concepts, financing parameters, lender expectations, and the legal documents (Ground Leases and Housing Subsidy Covenants). Agents can better understand how to support clients who are not yet ready to purchase on the open market.
