How to Get Your Broker's License – FAQs

  1. Complete 40 hours pre-licensing course
  2. Complete the national and state exam
  3. Complete 8 closed transactions
  4. Have two years experience as a salesperson
  5. Be affiliated with a Vermont licensed office.

To become a licensed broker, you must complete the Broker Pre-Licensing Course. VAR schedules this class throughout the year. If you are applying for licensure by endorsement (have and active license in another state) then you may not need to take the 40 hour pre-licensing course. If you hold a license in Alaska or Indiana you will need to take the 40 hour pre-licensing course because the following states are not equivalent to Vermont.

You will need to contact AMP for your exam registration and questions regarding your exam. the examination service at www.goamp.com or by phone at (913) 895-4600.

If you are applying for licensure by endorsement (have an active license in another state) then you may not need to take the National exam. If you hold a license in California, New York, Puerto Rico or West Virginia, you will need to take both the National and State exam because that state is not equivalent to Vermont.

This should be recorded on the form “Verification of Salesperson Experience” that can be found here. This form must by signed and dated by your supervisor.

You must have been licensed as a salesperson for a minimum of two years. This will be verified by the office so there is no need to send any proof of this.

Yes you must be affiliated with a registered Vermont office in order to activate your license.

Yes you will need to send in Verification from every state you have or have ever held a license in.

Yes we will need all court documents including information on completion of all disciplinary matters.
