VAR Legislative Accomplishments

The Vermont Association of REALTORS is a recognized advocacy leader for REALTORS, homeowners and property owners in Vermont. VAR’s dedicated advocacy staff works with REALTOR members and the association’s Government Affairs Committee to monitor issues and to provide a voice for real estate in Vermont’s State House. Here are a few of the issues we have worked on.

Proposed legislation that would require residents who own a home on a private road to share the maintenance costs of the road. This legislation, which was signed into law, remedied Fannie Mae’s refusal to purchase mortgages on properties with no maintenance agreement.
