Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR)

The ABR® designation is the benchmark of excellence in buyer representation. This coveted designation demonstrates to peers and consumers a commitment to providing outstanding service to real estate buyers.

The ABR® is awarded by the Real Estate Buyer’s Agent Council (REBAC)—a subsidiary of NAR—to REALTORS® who meet the specified educational and practical experience criteria.

How to earn the ABR® designation:

  • Successfully complete the two-day ABR® Designation Course
  • Successfully complete one elective course
  • Submit documents verifying five completed transactions as a buyer’s representative
  • Be a member in good standing in both REBAC and NAR (or International member)

What is the cost of annual REBAC membership?

REBAC membership dues are $110 annually. Your first year’s membership in REBAC is included free with successful completion of the two-day Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR®) Designation Course. Dues are billed annually, with your second year dues invoice prorated to bring your membership to a calendar billing cycle.

What are some of the benefits of belonging to REBAC?

REBAC benefits include an online directory, a private referral network, customizable marketing materials and buyer consultation handouts, suggested scripts for answering buyers’ frequently asked questions, and a monthly newsletter. REBAC keeps you abreast of marketing trends in the real estate industry, as well as legal and legislative issues.

Accredited Land Consultant (ALC)

The REALTORS® Land Institute is the leading organization for those who specialize in all segments of land—agriculture, timber, ranch, recreation, vacant, land management, appraisal, commercial, auction, legal, investments, and corporate. The best in the business achieve the Accredited Land Consultant (ALC) designation.

How to earn the ALC designation:

  • Hold candidate membership for at least six months prior to submitting application
  • Successfully complete a total of 104 hours of courses:
    • 56 hours of required coursework
    • 48 hours of electivesSubmit a resume that demonstrates a minimum of three years of experience
  • Submit a portfolio that substantiates:
    • Required volume of land sales
    • Other real estate services related to landOR
  • ALC Examination
  • Letters of Recommendation
  • Fast track and university co-op accelerated options for earning the designation are available

What are the annual membership dues?

Annual ALC dues are $445 annually. ALCs whose membership lapses may submit the $350 ALC application fee for reinstatement. Designated members who allowed their membership to lapse for a period greater than five years will be required to pay the ALC reinstatement fee of $350 and be required to retake the ALC Exam.

Only upon successful passing of the ALC Exam will they be considered an ALC in good standing.

Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS)

Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS)

The Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation is the exclusive global designation of NAR®. This premier designation is awarded by NAR’s Commercial and Global Services department to REALTORS® who complete the coursework and meet practical experience criteria that demonstrate knowledge and familiarity with international clients.

How to earn the CIPS designation:

  • Successfully complete two core courses and three elective courses (options and requirements vary for US and non-US applicants)
  • Designees must complete the designation application with at least 100 elective credits. Elective credits can be earned in 13 different categories such as: Speaking other languages, possessing additional NAR® designations, attending international conferences and international transactions, experience abroad, and others.
  • Be a member in good standing in NAR (or International member)

Is there a fee to become designated?
There is a one-time application fee of $75.

How much are the annual membership dues?
Dues for the CIPS Designation are $220 annually and new applicant dues are pro-rated quarterly based on the date of application.

Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) Designation

Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) Designation

Education and experience are what being a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) is all about; they are both the foundation of the CRS designation and, together, will lead you down the path to success. Whether you’re new to the business and still building productivity or an experienced sales agent with high production; and whether you’re in a high-priced market or a low one, CRS offers a plan to meet your level of experience, market profile, and personal learning preferences.

How to earn the CRS designation:

  • Option A: 75 transactions or $25M in 5 years, and 64 education credits
  • Option B: 25 transactions or $8M in 2 years with 10 transactions, and 80 education credits
  • Pro-Program: 150 transactions or average of $1M per year with 40 transactions, and 16 education credits
  • Manager: Directly oversee 400 transactions or $80M in 4 years of real estate management, and 80 education credits

Is there a fee to become designated?
There is a one-time application fee of $75.

How much are the annual membership dues?
Annual member dues are $150. In order to continue to use the CRS Designation, you must continue to pay your annual membership dues.

NAR's Green Designation

How to earn NAR’s Green designation:

 What is the cost of annual GREEN REsource Council membership?

Your membership begins upon completion of any two of the three required courses, which includes one year of membership in the GREEN REsource Council. Your second year of membership—beginning one year after your completion of two of the three required courses—will be prorated through the end of the year. Your third year and thereafter will be $98.50, due at the end of the calendar year.

With new enhancements made each year, GREEN benefits help keep designees ahead on green industry information. By providing a wealth of marketing materials, research, and information, NAR Green Designees can thrive in a niche growing more prevalent by the day. Seller Representative Specialist (SRS)

Seller Representative Specialist (SRS)

The SRS designation is the premier credential in seller representation. It is designed to elevate professional standards and enhance personal performance. The designation is conferred by the Council of Real Estate Brokerage Managers (CRB) to real estate practitioners with advanced professional training essential to representing sellers. The SRS credential is now recognized by NAR and will be populated in your NRDS record as well as on the applicable section of REALTOR.com.  SRS Members have a variety of member benefits available to only them.

How much are the annual membership dues?

The annual dues to maintain your SRS designation are $99. Your first year’s membership dues are complimentary. Membership dues are payable on the anniversary of your designation date each year after your first year. You must also continue to be a REALTOR® or REALTOR®–Associate and maintain that membership at the local, state, and national levels (or International membership).

The SRES® designation was developed and is offered by the SRES® Council, whose mission is to promote member success by providing high quality training and tools necessary to position the SRES® designee as the trusted real estate resource for the senior market.

How to earn SRES® designation:

  • Successfully complete the two-day SRES® Designation Course
  • Active membership in the SRES® Council
  • Membership in both the SRES® Council and NAR (or International member)

How much are the annual dues for the SRES® Council?

New Seniors Real Estate Specialists® receive a one-year membership in the Seniors Real Estate Specialist® Council for free. Annual dues are $99 each year thereafter.

How do I join the SRES® Council?

The only way to join the Seniors Real Estate Specialist® Council is by successfully completing the SRES® Designation Course, for which you will receive one-year free membership in the council.
